There are four files that must be created on your boot floppy in order for the CD-ROM drive to be available when booting into DOS when it comes to the floppy:

    1. Real Mode CD Driver
    2. Microsoft’s MSCDEX program
    3. A tsr CONFIG.SYS file with an extra line that loads the AUTOEXEC CD driver.
    4. A single line .bat file that normally loads the MSCDEX TSR.

1- Real mode CD driver added.

How will you make CD drive as your first boot device?

Go into your computer’s BIOS settings and check if the optical drive is the first in the duration.Insert the special rescue boot disk into the shared optical drive.Restart your computer.Be warned!Your computer must boot from a specific boot floppy.

By default, IBM installs all drivers in true CD mode, which can be activated from DOS, in the
C:WindowsCommand folder. In older versions of Aptivas, this file appears as IBMIDECD. On sys, newer systems, the initiator is VIDE-CDD.SYS.

In order to add CD-ROM support to a boot disk, it is usually necessary to add a copy of one of them to the disk previously mentioned files. This can be done using standard Windows procedures such as Copy > Drag & Paste, > Drop, Send > A:, etc., or alternatively using the following commands, which are
entered from a full DOS command line :

To load CD support and optionally map a CD to a specific drive, you must add the drive letter MSCDEX.EXE to your hard drive set. This file is also located in C:WindowsCommand by default, and writing to disk can be achieved using standard Windows procedures such as copy > paste or send to > A:, or by using the following processing provided by the command, including output: Command line in DOS:

The system CD CONFIG.File should be added to help the floppy contain a string that will help you load the real mode memory cd driver when the PC boots from the floppy.
